From the Heart

I just finished this memory quilt for a client who moved here from Colorado.  Her quilting gang made the quilt top for her and wrote notes in the stars from each of them as a going away gift.  I quilted tumbling hearts all over it with So Fine #418 It's a Girl.  I hope that her friends back home would be happy with how it turned out.

Bugs 'n Butterflies

Is this not cuter than a bug's ear?! I used Rainbows thread in Jester for the quilted bug pattern on the front, and a spring green So Fine on the back.  The fabulous thread and fun quilting pattern was lost in the chaos of the fabric colors, and should have taken a back seat to the critters.  Lesson learned! Such a super cute quilt though.

Hooterville!

What a hoot!  Are these owls not the funniest little characters?!  My client found this fabric in Creston, IA and then had me quilt an owl pattern onto the top. I think I found the perfect pattern to go with these funny little guys.  I quilted it using a "neutral" celery green So Fine thread.

Pastels and Butterflies

LOVE this quilt!  I would want to just crawl under it if it wasn't 106 degrees outside!  The theme fabric is so girly and pretty that I decided to put pink feather butterflies, leaves and flowers on it.  I used my good ol' standby So Fine thread in #418, It's a Girl.  Did I mention that I want to keep this quilt? :)

Mystery Quilt

Mystery quilt indeed!  My client had no idea how this quilt would come together when she signed up for a Mystery quilt class.  She loves paisleys though so after choosing lots of paisley fabrics, the piecing pattern came together to create a stunning quilt top.  We chose a shimmery cooper thread to coordinate with the colors in the fabrics, and then I then found the perfect paisley quilting pattern for it.  It's the first time I'd used Molly Poly thread.  Boy is it slick!  After some adjustments for that, the pattern and thread combined to finish this quilt perfectly!  The backing is a rust-colored paisley with matching Molly Poly thread.

Light & refreshing

What a light and refreshing quilt this was to do!  I quilted swirly clouds onto it with an aqua thread (Superior, So Fine #470, Venice).  I noticed lots of circles, curves and swirls in the fabric prints so I played off of that to help add movement and soften the linear lines of the jelly roll strips. This is a gift for my client's daughter.  I hope she loves it!

Summer Fun!

Just when I thought I couldn't have any more fun than quilting out pink cupcakes, I get this popsicle quilt!  It was the perfect opportunity to try out a new thread that's the color of summer sunshine.  I used Glide thread in a nice shimmery Marigold.  How fun are these beach balls, sunglasses and flip flops in the pattern?  Summer fun for sure!
